What Materials Are Thobes Made Of?
Our thobes are made from a variety of materials to suit different climates and preferences:
- Cotton: Lightweight and breathable, perfect for hot climates.
- Polyester: Durable and easy to care for, often blended with other fabrics.
- Wool Blend: Warm and insulating, suitable for colder weather.
Where Are Your Thobes Made?
Our thobes are expertly tailored in the United Arab Emirates, ensuring high quality and attention to detail.
Are All Items on Your Website Custom-Made?
No, not all our items are custom-made. In addition to our custom options, we offer handmade thobes with pre-set designs and styles taking 3 days to make, as well as ready accessories.
Can Non-Muslims Wear Thobes?
Absolutely! Thobes are worn by people of all backgrounds for their comfort, elegance, and cultural significance. They are not restricted to any particular religion.
What Are the Different Styles of Thobes?
Thobes come in various regional styles, each with distinct features:
- Omani Thobes: Typically feature a tassel (furakha) on the neckline and often include intricate embroidery.
- Saudi Thobes: Known for their clean lines and buttoned collars, often worn for formal occasions.
- Emirati Thobes: Characterized by their loose fit and high-quality fabrics, embodying luxury and simplicity.
- Bahraini Thobes: Similar to Saudi thobes but with subtle regional distinctions in stitching and fit.

How Do I Pronounce "Thobe"?
In standard Arabic, it’s pronounced “thowb” with a long "o" sound. Some regions may pronounce it as “thob” with a shorter "o."
Thobe vs. Kandura
The term "thobe" is used broadly across different regions, while "kandura" specifically refers to the Emirati version, known for its simple design and collarless neckline.
How Do I Clean and Maintain a Thobe?
Proper care ensures your thobe lasts longer:
- Spot Clean: Use mild detergent on stains.
- Machine Wash: Suitable for cotton, polyester, and blends. Use a cold cycle to maintain fabric quality.
- Hand Wash: Recommended for delicate fabrics like silk.
- Dry Clean: Essential for woolen thobes to avoid damage.
- Air Dry: Helps prevent shrinkage and maintains the shape of the thobe.
- Ironing: Use low to medium heat and iron while slightly damp for best results.
- Storage: Store on padded hangers in a cool, dry place to maintain the garment’s shape.
Are Your Thobes Dry Clean Only or Can I Machine Wash Them?
Most of our thobes can be machine washed on a cold cycle. However, wool products should be dry cleaned to preserve their quality.
What Accessories Complement a Thobe?
Common accessories include:
- Headwear: Kufi, taqiyah, keffiyeh or ghutra, often secured with an agal.
- Footwear: Traditional sandals or modern shoes.
- Outer Garments: A bisht (cloak) for formal events.
